Following on from successful decommissioning and Environmental Permit Surrender for several major operators throughout the UK, EHS was appointed in December 2010 to support the Vita Group in the decommissioning design and programme verification of the former Kay-Metzeler facility at Bollington, one of the largest expanded polystyrene sites in the UK. EHS is supporting the management team through the regulatory process for the site which is both a COMAH and Part A1 permitted installation. The programme of works will be undertaken over an extended timescale whilst decommissioning activities are under taken in parallel with the residual processing and warehousing of materials. The site is to be handed back to the lease holder free of both environmental and health and safety risk.
