Dong Energy’s Severn Power station development is due to be fully commissioned at the end of 2010. Siemens Fossil is managing the design, engineering, construction, commissioning, testing and management of the new 850MW combined cycle gas turbine plant. Following commissioning the power station is expected to be one of the most efficient gas-fired power stations in the UK providing the equivalent of up to 30% of Wales’ electricity demand.
Located on the adjacent to the River Usk
and protected foreshores of the
River Severn, EHS Projects has been
closely involved with Siemens O&M on
the development of the integrated
Environmental, Health & Safety
compliance management system in line
with both ISO14001 and OHSAS 18001.
EHS’ role leading up to first fire is to ensure
the developing systems are prescribed by
the requirements of the Environmental
Permitting Regime and to provide steer from
our experience of other UK operators on the
adequacy of the control systems the operator
relies on to demonstrate compliance and
deliver on-going EHS improvements.
The project extends EHS’ close relationship with Siemens providing management systems support to the fossil and renewable energy divisions across the UK.
